This position is in support of the Department of Justice US Attorney’s Office, Eouthern District of New York (EDNY). The organization requires a modern big data solution to support broad and high profile investigative priorities. As a Praescient employee supporting this effort, you will be on the front lines implementing EDNY’s premier investigative analysis platform.
Praescient Analytics is in search of a Data Analytics Software Developer to develop, integrate and deploy data science applications or enhancement to COTS products that support the discovery of information hidden in vast amounts of data and diverse datasets. This includes applying natural language processing, data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and machine learning integrated with our analytical and visualization tools. The Data Analytics Software Developer will support Analytics and Business Intelligence development and will focus on providing development support to a team of data analysts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads a medium-to-large team designing, implementing, and integrating software or independently performs highly complex software development tasks
- Writing effective, scalable code.
- Developing back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance.
- Implementing NLP and data mining solutions using state-of-the-art methods.
- Implementing audio processing tools (e.g., speech-to-text, speaker identification, language recognition, etc.).
- Implementing web services such as REST or SOAP.
- Integrating user-facing elements into applications. Testing and debugging programs. Improving the functionality of existing systems.
- Implementing security and data protection solutions.
- Continually interacting with teams to design and implement innovative solutions that will provide key decision-making abilities.
- Creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation including process diagrams, fully documented code, and system documentation as it relates to implementation, maintenance, and optimization.
- Selecting features, building, and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques.
- Developing tools for data processing, data cleansing, and verification of the integrity of data prior to analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry as a recognized technical expert on the subject.
- Strong experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, JAVA, or .NET
- Understanding of multi-process architecture and process threading. Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system. Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js.
- Understanding of accessibility and security compliance. Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application. Familiarity with event-driven programming.
- Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform.
- Ability to create database schemas that represent and support business processes. Strong unit test and debugging skills. Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript and HTML5).
- Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Experience with one or more NLP toolkits (e.g., Python NLTK, Spacy).
- Experience with common data science toolkits (e.g., Python, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc.).
- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL (SQL Server, Teradata, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL). Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra.
- Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc. Data-oriented personality.
