Overview:
Praescient Analytics is seeking an AWS Cloud Solutions Engineer (1099) to provide expert-level architecture, deployment, and accreditation support for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program. This role will establish a secure, contractor-owned AWS environment and integrate mission-critical tools, ensuring cost efficiency and long-term sustainability. Once the environment is fully operational, the engineer will provide oversight for upgrades, new integrations, or audits as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Deployment

Design and deploy a secure, scalable contractor-owned AWS environment aligned with DHS security and privacy requirements.

Lead integration of commercial analytic platforms (i2 Analyst’s Notebook, Babel Street, Clearview, etc.) into AWS.

Establish secure networking (VPCs, IAM roles, security groups, MFA) and monitoring capabilities.

Architect the AWS environment for long-term cost efficiency, selecting services and configurations that balance performance, scalability, and budget sustainability.
Security & Compliance

Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for repeatable, auditable deployments.
Transition & Advisory Role

Hand off day-to-day O&M responsibilities to the Data Engineer team once the environment is stable.

Provide oversight for upgrades, new tool integrations, or independent audits as required.

Advise on ongoing AWS cost management strategies to ensure predictable and efficient operations across the program lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:

Experience: 7+ years managing AWS environments, preferably in support of DHS, DOJ, DoD, or IC programs.

Technical Skills:
-
AWS environment design and deployment.

Containerization/orchestration (EKS/ECS, Docker).

Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Security Knowledge: Familiarity with FedRAMP standards, DHS 4300A guidance, and CUI protections.
